It's Academic: Walt Whitman, Sandy Spring Friends and Landon | March 7, 2026

Students from Walt Whitman High School in Bethesda, MD; Sandy Spring Friends School in Ashton-Sandy Spring, MD; and Landon School in Bethesda, MD square off on IT'S ACADEMIC! The Guinness Book of World Records has recognized IT'S ACADEMIC as the world's longest-running TV quiz show. Started back in 1961, the weekly program features teams from Washington DC metropolitan area schools -- public, private, parochial, charter, urban, suburban and rural. Host Hillary Howard leads the teams through a fast paced academic competition, testing their knowledge in a wide range of subjects including math, literature, science, history and more. The high school quiz show is filmed before a live studio audience and broadcast on WETA PBS and WETA Metro. IT'S ACADEMIC is produced by Altman Productions in association with David M.
