Stadium Powwow Dance Tutorial
Tansi! Hello! My name is Angela Gladue, I am from the Treaty 6 Territory of amiskwacîwâskahikan (ᐊᒥᐢᑿᒌᐚᐢᑲᐦᐃᑲᐣ), meaning “beaver hills house,” which is the nehiyawewin itwewin (Cree word) for Edmonton. I am a member of Frog Lake First Nation and began Powwow Dancing through my school 'Prince Charles Elementary' when I was 6 years old. I have been sharing this dance for many years throughout North America and was asked to make a Powwow Dance Tutorial for youth who participated in a summer camp for Right To Play 2020. This video is Part 2 of that tutorial where I am now putting together the steps I shared into this routine for you to follow along. I chose Stadium Powwow to choreograph to because it is one of my favorite A Tribe Called Red songs to dance to as I have been touring and performing with them since 2016. I hope you enjoy! Feel free to tag me in your videos when you learn the dance, I would love to see your style and energy behind this routine and encourage you to freestyle for the last bit of the song. Ay Hay - Thank you! Dance hard and have fun! -Angela
