Tornado Warned Supercell Mahoning County, Ohio (7-5-26)

July 5, 2026. Low and severe weather risk was in place across eastern Ohio into Western Pennsylvania. The main risk was heavy, rain, damaging winds, and frequent lightning. however around 1 PM a supercell began to take form on the Mahoning/ Trumbull county line. The storm was rotating very quickly and had some brief funnels poking down. As the storm slowly made its way east a second Cell from the south began to merge with the first one and create a very intense line with embedded circulation across the area. I was expecting some gusty wind however what I experienced definitely was not on the table. Extreme winds/ and heavy rain. The storm did go tornado warned over the area as it moved east toward the Youngstown area. This storm created a lot of flooding and damage, and will take time to clean up!
