Masterclasses Marco Vannini, "Detachment. Mysticism as Knowledge of the Soul" Friday, September 13, 2024, 8:30 PM Sassuolo, Teatro Carani What does it mean to define mystical experience as an experience of the spirit? What happens when the psychological self yields to the spirit through the exercise of detachment and the ever-dialectical experimentation of the One? Marco Vannini taught History of Ancient Philosophy at the University of Florence and History of Mysticism at the Institute of Religious Studies in Trento, in addition to teaching in high schools. He has held seminars and conferences at universities and academies in Italy and abroad. He specializes in speculative mysticism and the philosophy of religion, placing the mystical phenomenon at the foundation of every religious form and experience. He edited the Italian edition of all the works, both Latin and German, of Meister Eckhart. He has also translated and edited important texts by authors of Christian spirituality, such as Augustine, Jean Gerson, François de Fénelon, Marguerite Porete (with Romana Guarnieri and Giovanna Fozzer), Johannes Tauler, Anonymous Frankfurter, Martin Luther, Angelus Silesius (with Giovanna Fozzer), Daniel von Czepko (with Giovanna Fozzer), Sebastian Franck, and Valentin Weigel.
