The fourth avatara of Lord Vishnu - Sri Narasimha appeared as a half-man-half-lion to eliminate an Asura king named Hiranyakashipu. Prahlad, the son of the Asura, exhibited divine qualities. Soon after Hiranyakashpu learned about his son's devotion to Vishnu, he attempted to dissuade him. And one day, when Hiranyakashipu's tyranny had crossed all limits, Lord Vishnu appeared before him as Narasimha. He killed Hiranyakashipu at dusk at the threshold of his house by making him lie on his lap and executing him with his claws.
