Equalization Valve 6
The sixth of the build videos for the project Egress pressure equalization valve. The pressure equalization valve was used to vent and equalize pressure between the Apollo command module and the exterior of the spacecraft prior to fully opening the unified hatch. Built primarily of stainless steel this is a fully functional valve assembly as best as the documentation allowed. Along with many other makers I was invited to build a part for the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the Apollo 11 flight that put the first humans on the moon. The project was in collaboration with Adam Savage and Tested.com. I'm very proud to say that I built a piece that is in the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum on permanent display. Check out the links below for more information and 3D files to build your own hatch or valve assembly.https://airandspace.si.edu/events/pro... upload of build video at the Smithsonianhttps://www.tested.com/art/makers/886...
