Today we are looking at one of the most ambitious yacht projects currently under construction: PROJECT ZERO, a 69 metre sailing superyacht being built with no diesel engines, no generators, no fuel tanks and no fossil fuel on board. At first glance, that sounds almost impossible. After all, large yachts require enormous amounts of energy, not only for propulsion but also for air conditioning, refrigeration, lighting, hot water and all the other systems needed to create a luxury environment at sea. So how can a yacht of this size operate without conventional power? In this video, David explores the technology and thinking behind PROJECT ZERO, including her use of wind power, solar energy, hydrogeneration and advanced energy storage systems.
