ALASKA-REISE: Zu Besuch bei Bär und Lachs | Chilkoot River, Haines

Bears fishing for salmon in Alaska! 🐻🐟 Despite being pressed for time, we're making a detour to Haines to the Chilkoot River (Fish Weir) – hoping to see grizzly/brown bears hunting salmon. We had only just left Alaska: back across the border into Canada, plan to "work for a few days" at Kluane Lake… but then the wind practically blew us away. Onward to Quill Creek – less rocking, but Max got sick… plan ruined! Now we're back on the road – but: we only have 6 weeks left until our VW Crafter "Captain Knut" has to be shipped to Germany. And we still have at least 7,000 km to go across Canada to get to Halifax. In this vlog: Border reset, dreamy waterside scenery, Haines vibes – and then the moment we're hoping for: bears on the river, jumping into the water, hunting salmon… almost cute from a distance, but also quite intense when a brown bear strikes. We film from a safe distance and with maximum respect. Eventually, the vanlife reality check hits: we need a campsite before it gets dark. The next morning, the next chapter awaits: ferry to Skagway.
