2013 Mini Cooper R56 Manual Transmission Split and Examination (Getrag Six Speed Tranny)

In this video, I show you how to clean, split and examine your manual transmission. In this case (for a 2013 Mini Cooper R56) the transmission is the ubiquitous Getrag six-speed transmission. I did this to make sure that the cause of the total loss of drive in my newly purchased project car was due entirely to a very (!) badly worn clutch, and not because of an internal fault in the transmission. I also show you how to properly seal the transmission case back together for re-installation in the vehicle. I would recommend this step for virtually anyone who has their transmission out to replace the clutch, or for any other reason. It's easy, simple, and will provide tremendous peace of mind. It also just might keep you from having to remove the transmission an "extra time"!
