I Made This in the Dark — The Ocean Blue Resin Pen | Sawdust & Friends Ep. 10

I made this years ago. During one of the hardest times of my life. When my creativity had left me. When hope was running low. When I was struggling in ways I didn’t know how to talk about. I sat down and I poured ocean blue mica powder and copper mica powder into a resin mold. I swirled them together. I let it harden. I put it on a shelf. And I made it through. In Episode 10 of Sawdust and Friends — Carved from Life I’m finally turning that blank on the lathe. Years later. On the other side of that darkness. Finding out for the first time what it was always meant to become. Ocean blue. Copper swirls. Something that looks like marble. Something that looks like the ocean floor lit by sunlight. Something that has never existed before and can never be duplicated. Just like the version of me that made it. And just like the version of me standing here now. This episode is for anyone who is in their dark time right now. Who has lost their creativity. Who is struggling to find hope in the making. Who needs to hear that the thing you make in the darkness — even when you can’t see what it’s becoming — is still becoming something. Make it anyway. Put it on the shelf. Trust the lathe. 🪵 Subscribe to Sawdust and Friends — Carved from Life 📲 Find us @ArtistsofElements on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok 📧 [email protected] Stay curious. Keep creating.
