Is The Chemo Working? + What’s Next (Ovarian Cancer Stage 3 / 4)

It was a bittersweet visit to the Mayo Clinic this last week as we got some encouraging news, but also learned more about the cancer and what is possibly in store for my future. While we were up there, I had scans to see how the chemotherapy is working after my first three rounds of paclitaxel & carboplatin. I had a CT scan of my abdomen, chest & pelvis as well as an MRI of my abdomen to get a closer look at my liver. After my liver biopsy back in July turned out to be pretty inconclusive, we are still trying to confirm if the cancer has in fact metastasized to my liver, lymph nodes and possibly my right ovary. This would put me in Stage 4 instead of Stage 3. There are still a lot of unknowns, but we have a great team at Mayo Clinic working with us to get answers that could prove critical to figuring out the next steps of my care.
