With the demise of the Datsun brand, the title of cheapest foreign car in Russia has been vacated. The Renault Logan is technically cheaper than the Chevrolet Nexia. But that's only the starting price, while with an automatic transmission and a full set, the reborn Chevrolet Aveo (aka Ravon R3 Nexia) is 100,000 rubles more affordable. The 2021 Nexia is a throwback to the early 2000s, when the original Aveo was released. ERA-GLONASS and mandatory ESP are now available. But there's no parking sensors, heated seats, or heated windshield, the displays are archaic, and the turn signals don't flash three times when you touch the lever. The rear is cramped in every way. The trunk lid is fully lined, but lacks a handle. There are two airbags, and that's all. Soundproofing is practically nonexistent. However, it has a 6-speed automatic transmission, which helps the 105-horsepower 1.6-liter engine achieve 10 liters per 100 km in the city. The powertrain is nimble, the suspension is energy-intensive and soft, but doesn't like sharp maneuvers. An interesting feature: the air conditioning turns on automatically when the "windshield" mode is selected, and it cannot be deactivated in this mode. The Logan can be equipped quite well. The price list includes remote start, navigation, parking sensors, cruise control, a speed limiter, and climate control. The only ergonomic flaws in the 2020 model remain. It has uncomfortable front seats, but the rear seats are quite spacious. The trunk lid is unlined, but it does have a handle for closing. It's a shame the otherwise good instrument cluster has a single-line display: you have to choose which data it displays. The 1.6-liter 102-horsepower engine is paired with a 4-speed DP2 automatic transmission. It's slow and thirsty, though reliable. In the city, it can easily exceed 11-12 l/100 km. The suspension is resilient; it can handle any road! This is why the Renault Logan is appreciated. The Chevrolet Nexia, however, has yet to prove its worth. There certainly won't be lines for it, although it's clearly a better value compared to the Logan.
