Did Scouting America Rush This Merit Badge? A Vets Review

Is the NEW Military Service Merit Badge actually good… or a complete miss? Scouting America just released the Military Service and Veterans Merit Badge… and honestly, I had high hopes. As a 19-year Veteran, I couldn’t wait to see how they would introduce Scouts to military service. But after reviewing the requirements… there is room for improvement. In this video, I break down: • ✅ What Scouting America got RIGHT • ❌ What they completely MISSED • 🔧 And how I would FIX the entire merit badge From missing conversations about the U.S. Constitution to a surprising lack of focus on physical fitness and real military readiness, this badge leaves out some of the most important parts of service. I also share my proposed requirements for what this merit badge should look like—focused on leadership, sacrifice, citizenship, and preparing Scouts for real-world service. If you’re a Scout leader, parent, or just someone interested in how Scouting prepares young people for the future… you’re going to want to hear this. 👇 Drop your thoughts in the comments—what did they get right?
