RING OF KERRY, Best Stops in 1 Day - Ireland with kids!
#ringofkerry #irelandwithkids #ringofkerrystops We are in Ireland with kids! And we are doing the dream drive of Ireland, The Ring of Kerry. And we are giving your our best stops and Ring of Kerry itinerary. This is the best of the Ring of Kerry. The famed Ring of Kerry is a bucket list check. The Ring of Kerry is 110 miles of coastal road that hug cliffs and promises the most magnificent views. The Ring of Kerry is a 179km circular route around the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry in South Western Ireland in County Kerry. We are doing as much as we can fit in in 1 day of driving the Ring of Kerry. We start our journey where most people start their Ring of Kerry Drive in the town of Killarney. We spent the night the day before at the ParkAvon Hotel and family friendly hotel with an indoor pool. We start our morning early with a full Irish breakfast, gas up and hit the road. Our first stop on the Ring of Kerry is the town of Killorglin. Killorglin, in the geographical heart of County Kerry in Ireland, is home to Ireland’s oldest fair. This street festival has roots in the Gaelic calendar and is held without fail on the 10th, 11th and 12th of August every year with free family- friendly street entertainment daily. The town of Killorglin take a mountain goat from the mountains and crown the goat King Puck or King of Ireland. And we stop to see the King Puck statue. WE continue along the ring, making sure to stop off at all the look out points to take in the view. Our next stop is Rossbeigh Beach. Rossbeigh Beach is a lovely long sandy beach ideal for family days out, horse trekking, long walks and water sports. Rossbeigh is located about 2 miles from the village of Glenbeigh on the Ring of Kerry. There is a great children's playground here. There is ample parking at the start of the beach and lots of places to eat in the nearby village of Glenbeigh making it an ideal choice for a day by the sea. My boys favorite part was looking for sea creatures! The road continues as we find ourselves at the magnificent Cliffs of Kerry. The Kerry Cliffs is the nearest point on the mainland from which to view the Skellig Islands and are situated on the Skellig Ring which is an 18km loop just off the Ring of Kerry. Kerry’s most spectacular sea cliffs have been a viewing point for generations and a few years ago were developed with fencing, a carpark, coffee shop and camping by the local landowner. We finally made it to the tip of the peninsula. And waiting for us is a sweet treat. Skelligs Chocolate founded in 1996 sits in its own little pocket of the world. The beauty alone is enough to knock your socks off. The winds are too, but hey, that’s all part of the experience. This stunning natural setting is the source of all our inspiration. Imagine the thrill of being at the edge of the world where the elements collide, time seems to stand still and all that awaits is adventure. We make it to the opposite side of the Iveragh Peninsula just in time for dinner at O'carrolls Cove Restaurant and Bar. It is located mid-way between the Villages of Caherdaniel and Castlecove on the world famous Ring of Kerry and Wild Atlantic Way. The cove is famous for its turquoise waters, gulf stream, white sandy beach and the abundance of dolphins, seals and other sea life. O’Carrolls is well known for its juicy steaks, Kerry lamb, fresh local seafood, all 100% Irish. The menu offers a variety of foods for all tastes and many dishes are gluten free. The Cove offers a unique dining experience with comfortable seating inside. We also have seating outside on our extensive decking areas with panoramic views of Kenmare Bay. After dinner we went to find a secret Coral Beach around the town from Sneen, Ireland. The coral beach is 1 of only 2 in Ireland and it is located over hills of roaming sheep, between jagged sea rocks. The beach is beautiful but not suitable for swimming because all of the sheep droppings. Luckily their is a pier near by. Gleesk Pier was a great place to swim and meet locals. We swam in a refreshing 13 degree Celsius sea water. We also learned from the locals that the jellyfish are Moon Jellyfish and do not sting. We are coming to an end of our Ring of Kerry Road Trip we have 2 pints in the most charming Ireland town of Kenmare. Kenmare is adorable with its colorfully painted pubs. We complete the circle loop by a beautiful drive through Kerry National Park during sunset
