JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV - The Attorney General's Office has finally detained the former Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Dadan Hindayana, after being named a suspect in an alleged corruption case involving the management of the Free Nutritional Meals Program (MBG). In addition to Dadan, two former Deputy Heads of BGN, Lodewyk Pusung and Sony Sonjaya, were also detained. Before being named suspects, all three were removed from their positions by President Prabowo Subianto. According to the Attorney General's Office, the Free Nutritional Meals Program should be managed by foundations at each school. However, several foundations designated as partners are allegedly being used as vehicles for corruption by individuals affiliated with BGN officials. The Presidential Staff Office has also not denied various reports regarding problems within the BGN. Among them are allegations of buying and selling points at Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) or kitchens within the Free Nutritional Meals Program. Presidential Chief of Staff Dudung Abdurachman stated that President Prabowo received a lot of information regarding various issues in the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals Program. Therefore, the President reportedly wants to ensure there are no irregularities in this program, one of his mainstays. Now, the leadership of the National Narcotics Agency (BGN) has changed. Nanik S. Deyang has been appointed Head of BGN. Meanwhile, Agustina Arumsari has been appointed Deputy Head of BGN for Operations, and Major General Trenggono has been appointed Deputy Head of BGN for Organizational Development and Institutional Relations. Following the revelation of an alleged corruption case implicating the former Head of BGN and his two former deputies, the Palace has requested that the new BGN leadership immediately improve governance and strengthen inter-agency coordination in the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals Program. So, is this pattern of appointing partners and foundations a loophole vulnerable to corruption?
