Instead, successful surf anglers focus on current, water level, structure, and bait movement to understand when and where fish will feed. I share how to track patterns using a fishing log, how tide and current can move differently, and why certain spots produce better on incoming or outgoing tides. We also dive into how striped bass position themselves around structure, how baitfish behave in different conditions, and why scouting at low tide can help you find holes, sandbars, and staging areas that hold fish when the water rises. I also go over some lure choices for fishing higher water and stronger currents, including when to throw topwater, swimming plugs, bucktails, and swimbaits.
