I Said No to Every Robot Mower Until This | ECOVACS GOAT A3000 LiDAR Pro!

And that’s exactly what just happened to my lawn mower, but this actually has something that my Tesla doesn’t. This is the new ECOVACS GOAT A3000 LiDAR Pro robotic lawn mower, and full disclosure - this video is sponsored by ECOVACS but all opinions are my own. And over the years I've gotten a ton of requests to review different robot lawn mowers and I’ve turned them all down so far because they always had a dealbreaker. Or they'd automate the mowing but still leave the edges for me to trim which is honestly the worst part of lawn care. But once I saw the GOAT A3000 LiDAR Pro I immediately wanted to review it because: 1) it’s name is GOAT so it must be good, and 2: it features a technology that is at the forefront of the self-driving vehicle revolution. But there's an autonomous machine running in my yard right now that is making a very strong case for LiDAR (and it doesn’t require car insurance). The reasons I chose this mower is because it is truly wire-free with auto-mapping, it uses actual LiDAR, and it has a built-in automated trimmer. Let me show you how it works and why LiDAR may not ever come in a Tesla but matters for a robot mower. Most of the GOAT’s competition uses RTK navigation, which is inferior to LIDAR because it utilizes GPS and a base station to determine how the mower navigates. The GOAT's HoloScope 360 system uses two LiDAR sensors: a 360-degree rotating unit for full-yard localization, and a solid-state 3D Time-of-Flight sensor up front for close-range obstacle detection. After unboxing and updating the mower’s software via the free mobile app, all I had to do was run the power cord to an outlet, fasten the charging station down, dock the mower, then use the app to initiate the mower’s auto-mapping feature and it mapped my entire backyard on its own. The app also has options to edit zones, boundaries, and no-go areas, but I didn’t even need to do any of that. The app, by the way, is really convenient and reminds me a lot of the Tesla app for its customization features and the ability to see the location and progress of the mower in real time. It allows you to set custom schedules, or set it to do certain areas or even auto mow, and you can also adjust the mowing speed and cut length to your preference. You can even do zone-specific cutting height and different mowing modes so the app just makes it even super easy to customize and manage. But this next feature is the one that got me really excited because I have never seen it on any other robot mower. Now, one thing I did notice was that the trimmer is louder than the regular mowing, but that’s mainly because the regular mowing is just extremely quiet in the first place so anything compared to that will be louder. The 3D Time-of-Flight LiDAR plus AI camera can identify and avoid over 200 types of obstacles, including pets and people which is great because my yard almost always has some kind of toy laying around from my kids. But if it detects something it doesn't just stop and reverse to avoid it, it can actually reroute and come back to finish the area if the object is cleared. I’m not getting any younger, and mowing that incline with my push mower was not fun on the old back so this was nice to see. And for my backyard I set the speed to about 3/4th of the max and it usually completes in about 90 minutes on a single charge with plenty remaining. I previously used a battery powered push mower to mow my lawn which required at least 45 minutes, every single week, and the batteries would die halfway so I had to spend more on batteries then I had to trim afterward which took even more time. I thought when I became a dad I was supposed to naturally want to spend more time on my lawn, but I’ve found the opposite to be true. I don’t want to waste time on my lawn because I would much rather spend my time with my kids doing other things. This mower is truly wire-free, it has LiDAR navigation that actually works under trees, the TruEdge trimmer is a real first-mover feature, and it has a mobile app for maximum convenience and customization. It comes at a premium price, but bottom line: if you want real hands-free lawn care, and you've been waiting for a robot mower with LIDAR technology without the hassle of towers and boundary wires, this is the first robot mower that met my all my requirements, and it delivers. ⬇️ Stay up to date!
