Rhodes - Is it worth visiting? 🌴 RHODES – The Island of Sunshine, Myths, and Extraordinary Adventures | Complete Guide, Attractions, Beaches, Curiosities, and Flavors of Greece Sit comfortably and close your eyes… Imagine standing on a hill, with a view of the turquoise sea stretching out before you. The sun warms your face, and the air smells of rosemary and freshly baked bread from the nearby bakery. This is how I welcome you to Rhodes – an island that combines history, nature, and a daily life full of contrasts. In this video, I'll take you on a journey through Rhodes, where we'll visit monuments, beaches, towns, and hidden gems, but also peek into the kitchen where Greek delicacies are created, and learn about customs that can surprise any tourist. We'll be traveling by rental car – this gave me the freedom to explore the island at my own pace, without restrictions, and thanks to this, I've brought you places you won't find in typical advertising brochures. 🚗 Rhodes by car – freedom to discover From the very beginning, I knew that renting a car would be key to this trip. Buses to Rhodes run irregularly, and many beautiful places are literally "off the map" of tourist agencies. Driving around Rhodes is an adventure in itself: • Narrow roads in mountain villages, where passing each other requires precision and patience. • Views that force you to pull over just to take a photo. • Encounters with herds of goats crossing the road – they feel right at home here. • Drives to viewpoints overlooking both seas surrounding the island – the Aegean and the Mediterranean. In the film, you'll see moments as I drive along serpentine roads toward castles and beaches, with every turn the landscape changing like a kaleidoscope. 🏛️ Rhodes Old Town – a journey through time You can't be in Rhodes without visiting its capital. The Old Town of Rhodes is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and looks as if time stopped centuries ago. Entering through the monumental gate, you immediately feel the atmosphere of the Middle Ages. Walking through the narrow, cobbled streets, you'll discover: • Knights' Street, once traversed by the Knights Hospitaller. • The Palace of the Grand Masters, whose walls conceal histories of battles and intrigues. • Small shops selling local handicrafts – ceramics, jewelry, and olive oil. In the video, I'll show you not only the main attractions, but also the side streets where everyday life goes on at its own pace – neighbors chatting from their balconies, and the smell of coffee wafts from the small cafes. 🌅 Lindos – a postcard town If I had to choose one place in Rhodes that's an absolute must-see, it would be Lindos. White houses cling to the hillside, narrow stone-paved streets, and the acropolis at the top, overlooking the heart-shaped bay. It's best to arrive in Lindos in the morning, before the buses full of tourists arrive. In the video, you'll see how the town looks like a dream in the morning sun – quiet, peaceful, and fragrant with jasmine. 🏰 Monolithos – Castle on a Rock This is one of my favorite places in Rhodes. Monolithos Castle stands on a lonely rock, and the path to it leads through a pine forest filled with resin and the chirping of cicadas. The view from above? Sea to the horizon, tiny islands, and the feeling of being at the end of the world. 🌊 Rhodes Beaches – Paradise on Earth There's a beach for everyone in Rhodes. During my trip, I visited several, and each had its own character: • Tsambika Beach – golden sand, ideal for families, with a gentle slope into the sea. • Anthony Quinn Bay – a small bay surrounded by rocks, perfect for snorkeling. • Prasonisi – a unique place where two seas meet. In summer, it's a windsurfer's paradise, and in winter, it's a wild, windy place with incredible energy. • Stegna – a quiet beach in a fishing village, where you can enjoy freshly caught fish in the tavernas. 😲 Customs and curiosities that surprised me Traveling isn't just about the views, but also about experiencing everyday life. In Rhodes, I discovered a few things worth knowing: • Scooters without helmets – it's the norm here, and no one seems surprised. • Smoking in restaurants – still permitted in many places. • Siesta – early afternoon is when everything comes to a standstill. • Greek hospitality – free dessert, a glass of ouzo, or an extra portion of bread are commonplace here. 🌇 "Wow" Moments Without a Drone Although I didn't use a drone, the film features plenty of spectacular shots from vantage points.
