Perched at 2,850 m on a rocky spur at the heart of the Aletsch Glacier (the largest in Europe), this refuge has become unreachable on foot, the glacier having lost more than 200 meters in thickness.. Today, to sleep there, you must cross an ocean of ice and then climb this vertiginous metal staircase that seems to hang in mid-air. In this video, I take you on a two-day adventure starting from Jungfraujoch: crossing the Aletsch Glacier, arriving at Konkordiahütte, spending the night in the hut, and returning through a landscape listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This isn't a hiking tutorial.
