Canterbury was quiet when I filmed this (just coming out of lockdown) hence the empty streets. It was strange to see Canterbury City Centre so quiet but I thought I'd document it anyway so you could see it for yourself. I like the buildings here. ther'es some fantastic historical buildings all around Canterbury City Centre to see. Canterbury, a cathedral city in southeast England, was a pilgrimage site in the Middle Ages. Ancient walls, originally built by the Romans, encircle its medieval centre with cobbled streets and timber-framed houses. Canterbury Cathedral, founded 597 A.D., is the headquarters of the Church of England and Anglican Communion, incorporating Gothic and Romanesque elements in its stone carvings and stained-glass windows. Visitors flock to the incredible Canterbury Cathedral, which houses the famous shrine of medieval archbishop Thomas Beckett. St Augustine's Abbey and St Martin's Church are also spectacular historical sites, and together with the cathedral form a UNESCO heritage site. Canterbury was voted as the fifth best place to live in the UK and the best in Kent. It was voted as the 31st best place for architectural beauty and the 58th best for quality of life. The average family home costs £480,000 which puts it as one of the best places to live in the country. Canterbury has been a European pilgrimage site of major importance for over 800 years since the assassination of Archbishop Thomas Becket in 1170.
