Tolerância Zero: Prefeitura lança operação contra comércio ilegal nas praias do Rio

The Rio de Janeiro City Hall launched the Zero Tolerance program, a permanent operation to combat the illegal exploitation of public space on the city's beaches. The action begins along the Leme, Copacabana, Ipanema, and Leblon coastlines, bringing together municipal and state agents to intensify the inspection of irregular commerce and combat criminal structures linked to the illegal occupation of these spaces. The operation includes uninterrupted inspections, seizure of goods and equipment without proof of origin, as well as combating clandestine warehouses and the logistics that supply illegal commerce. The issue is also being monitored by the Rio de Janeiro City Council. The Special Commission on Informal Work held a public hearing to discuss the activity of street vendors on the beaches and seek solutions that reconcile urban planning, security, and the right to work for those who operate legally.
