A friend of mine named Stephen Keppel invited me there. He has been working there over 10 years. His commitment towards the people who need it the most there is just incredibly inspiring. I went there with Steve to work with local musicians. And there I met another Steeve -with one more "e". Steeve is a deep and beautiful musician, very involved in voodoo and spiritual music from Haiti. We sketched some ideas in the studio. And then I went back home to Boston and started writing. The piece ended up being 11 minutes of music. When I showed it to George Garzone, my friend and mentor, he encouraged me to invite Omar Hakim. They´ve been friends since they were kids. Omar is a big legend, who played with artists like Miles Davis, Madonna, Sting, Wayne Shorter, Herbie, etc. You name it. To be honest, I was a bit skeptical to show my music to him. But George made it happen, and from one day to the other Omar was on board. Unbelievable!!! After this I decided to call another one of my big time heroes, Sir. Hugo Fattoruso, with whom I already recorded some music. Hugo said yes!!! I went to Uruguay for Christmas and in a very warm day of December we recorded Hugo´s solo. This is a big project, that took months to put together. Thanks to all the artists -musicians, engineers, videographers, designers, etc. who participated.
