Jean "Django" Reinhardt (Liberchies, 23 de janeiro de 1910 — Paris, 16 de maio de 1953) foi um guitarrista de jazz francês de cultura cigana. Considerado um dos melhores e mais influentes guitarristas de todos os tempos, ele também influenciou vários músicos e inovou ao ajudou a criar o estilo gypsy jazz.2 3 É tido como o pai do jazz na Europa4 , e também um dos primeiros músicos não negros nesse estilo musical. De descendência cigana, Reinhardt nasceu na Bélgica e acompanhou sua caravana até chegar aos arredores de Paris. Nessa cidade, começou a tocar banjo logo aos doze anos na vida noturna. Em sua primeira gravação conhecida (de 1928) ele toca o banjo.5 Após um incêndio no mesmo ano, ele perdeu a mobilidade de dois dedos da mão esquerda, o que o forçou a desenvolver uma técnica própria. Fez sucesso posteriormente com o Quintette du Hot Club de France; com o início da Segunda Guerra Mundial, o grupo se separou. Of gypsy descent, Reinhardt was born in Belgium and accompanied his caravan until it reached the outskirts of Paris. In that city, he started playing the banjo at the age of twelve in nightlife. In his first known recording (from 1928) he plays the banjo.5 After a fire in the same year, he lost the mobility of two fingers on his left hand, which forced him to develop his own technique. He was later successful with the Quintette du Hot Club de France; With the start of World War II, the group split up. Django died in 1953, victim of a cerebral hemorrhage.
