With such a lightweight car, the rear shoes would normally be expected to last a long time. These had done 85k miles and were a little less than half worn. On this basis, you might expect shoes to last 160-200,000 miles but as can be seen, issues other than simple friction material wear can cause replacement. Unlike disc brakes, the dust in drum brakes is trapped inside the drum.
