Rosalinda Ávalos, an agent with the General Directorate of Investigative Methods of the San Luis Potosí Attorney General's Office, is living under a double tragedy: the murder of two of her children in 2020 and the judicial persecution she claims to be facing after publicly accusing Saba Santiago Ipiña, a judgeship candidate, of having ties to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. The former police officer stormed the local Congress to denounce him, which resulted in his being disqualified from the judicial process, but now she faces criminal charges for abuse of authority, moral damages, and improper exercise of public office. Ávalos accuses the State of revictimizing her by denying her full access to the investigation file, while her case has only resulted in nine arrests and no trial. Currently, she only has patrols outside her home as a protective measure, although she has warned that she fears for her life. The agent insists that the Attorney General's Office of the Republic should take over the case, as there is a clear conflict of interest given the involvement of police officers, public prosecutors, and local officials.
