Pomerode - die wohl deutscheste Stadt im Süden Brasiliens.
I'm walking through Pomerode in southern Brazil – a town that feels like a piece of Germany in South America. Along the Rota de Enxaimel, I discover beautiful half-timbered houses and delve a little into the history of the Pomeranian immigrants. What's special: I talk to people on the street who still speak a very old form of German – almost as it was spoken in Pomerania 150 years ago. A living time capsule and a cultural heritage that is almost nonexistent anymore. Walking through Pomerode, in southern Brazil. Along the Rota de Enxaimel, I talk to people whose families immigrated from Pomerania about 150 years ago. Some still speak Pomeranian German, preserved to this day.
