James Cameron on the Bomb, Censorship and Why Skepticism Beats Cynicism | Parkinson on BBC

James Cameron began his career writing an agony aunt column in Dundee under the name Ruby Emma, answering teenage girls' problems for three guineas a week. His answer to almost every question was to see your doctor. Ruby Emma earned fifty. In this conversation with Michael Parkinson, Cameron talks about being the only British correspondent at Bikini Atoll and what watching a nuclear test did to him, about going back twenty years later to find birds walking backwards and inedible lobsters on an island the size of Hyde Park that should not have survived and did. He talks about Ireland, censorship, and the argument he made throughout his career that neutrality in journalism is not only impossible but not entirely desirable. He was fired for it twice. He remained unrepentant. Legendary talk show host Sir Michael Parkinson's official YouTube channel.
