Video Editor: Ericson Bernedy S Host: Septyana Eka Reporter: Sulvi Soviana SURYA.CO.ID - The Indonesian Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM) launched a series of Food Safety Month 2026 activities through the Food Safety Month Kick-Off Event, Product Registration Socialization, and Assistance with Product Registration and Certification of Processed Food Production Facilities for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Surabaya on Monday (June 15, 2026). In this activity, which was centered in East Java, BPOM affirmed its commitment to expanding access to licensing, technical assistance, and strengthening access to financing for processed food MSMEs to increase competitiveness and expand markets. The Head of BPOM RI, Taruna Ikrar, stated that currently, there are approximately 4.2 million MSMEs in the food and drug sector targeted by BPOM. However, most still face obstacles in licensing, capital, distribution, and technical understanding related to food safety. Taruna Ikrar stated that registration of processed food products for micro and small businesses is now free. Furthermore, several certification processes that previously had to be completed in Jakarta can now be completed through the BPOM technical implementation units in their respective regions.
