Ambassador's remarks at the opening ceremony of the exposition of Holy Relics at Gandan Monastery.

On 31 May 2026, the exposition of Lord Buddha‘s two Chief Disciples Arahant Sariputra and Arahant Maudgalyayana was opened to public on the auspicious Buddha Purnima Day in Mongolia at the Gandantegchenling Monastery. The Chief Guest of the event HE Mr Lakshman Prasad Acharya, Governor of Assam, India stated that India and Mongolia have spiritual bond and under the able leadership of HE Mr Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India the relationship between India and Mongolia are further strengthening. HE Mr Enkh-Amgalan, Minister of Education of Mongolia thanked the Government of India for the exposition and announced that degrees of the Mongolian Buddhist monks studying in India will be recognised in Mongolia. HE Mr Atul Malhari Gotsurve, Ambassador of India enumerated the various initiatives taken by the Embassy of India under the guidance of Hon’ble PM of India to further strengthen the India Mongolia Buddhism bonds. He thanked all organisers and the Government of Mongolia for their support. Several high-level monks from India, Mongolia and Sri Lanka spoke at the event. The event included religious chants, cultural performances. Senior monks, senior government officials and people from all of life participated in the event. A Special Message from HE Mr Khurelsukh Ukhna, President of Mongolia was read on the occasion by Ms Yanjinsuren, Advisor to the President. HE Mr Enkhbayar, 3rd President of Mongolia was the Special Guest of the honour. Most Ven Mr D Choijmat, President of ABCP also participated in the event. The event was attended by senior officials of Mongolia, distinguished guests and people from all walks of life. Mantra chanting was done by monks from various countries like Thailand, Japan, Korea, Mongolia and India.
