The Fight Against Asian Carp: The Unified Method
Multiple government agencies worked together with contracted commercial fishers to remove 96,000 pounds of Asian carp in just two weeks using a method that moves fish from one end of a lake to another so they can be harvested at once. The “Unified Method” was employed this spring on a backwater lake on the upper Illinois River near Morris, Illinois. Removal efforts have helped reduce Asian carp populations in the northern reaches of the river by up to 68 percent in the past five years. #asiancarp #acrcc
