Hear the stories of carers we’ve supported this year | Our Impact Report 2023/4

Our Impact Report film highlights three key priority areas of work for us and aligns with the themes we used for the General Election and which we are taking into the coming year: 1. End carer poverty 2. Stop pushing carers to the limit 3. Fair futures for young carers We hear directly from carers Steve, Peter and Brooke – supported by Carers First, Bridgend Carers Centre and Falkirk and Clackmannanshire, respectively – about how their lives have been impacted by getting the right support at the right time. Because who better to communicate our collective impact than carers themselves? As the sole carer for both of his parents who live with dementia – and already struggling financially – Steve was at his wit’s end when his washing machine broke down, leaving him unable to wash his parents’ soiled clothes. With the support of Carers First, Steve was able to apply for and secure a grant for a new washing machine through our Carers Funds programme. Without this grant, Steve could not afford a new washing machine. This is just one example of where our collaborative support can be game-changing for carers.
