Jason Rantz Tries To SCAREMONGER But PoliticsGirl SHUTS IT DOWN In HEATED Exchange!

The night Zohran Mamdani's entire endorsed slate swept the New York primaries, conservative radio host Jason Rantz showed up on Abby Phillip's CNN NewsNight panel and did what the right-wing media machine always does when it's losing — reached for the smear. Rantz tried to fearmonger viewers into believing Democrats are now the party of "antisemitism" and socialism, demanding PoliticsGirl's Leigh McGowan "find one" Mamdani-aligned candidate who doesn't hold "antisemitic views." McGowan wasn't having it. When Rantz tried to bulldoze over her, she snapped: "Again! I'm speaking, and you keep talking over me!" — forcing Phillip to step in and hand her the floor. Here's the context Rantz didn't want on screen. Hours earlier, every single congressional candidate Mamdani backed had won: Brad Lander, Claire Valdez and Darializa Avila Chevalier all took their primaries, upsetting establishment-favoured Democrats. Lander dethroned Rep. Dan Goldman with about two-thirds of the vote, Valdez beat Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso, and Avila Chevalier ousted ten-year incumbent Adriano Espaillat. That's not fringe — that's a movement with the wind at its back. So Rantz did what the GOP does when the policy argument is a loser: he swapped "we disagree on housing and healthcare" for "they're antisemites," weaponising a serious term as a cheap partisan cudgel. And McGowan called the whole bluff. Her point cut straight through the noise: "Mamdani, in six months, has shown what the Democrats have not been able to show — that you can say you're going to get something done, and then get it done." That's the part the fearmongering is designed to drown out. While Rantz manufactured a panic about socialism and slurs, McGowan kept dragging it back to the thing that actually moves voters — representatives who fight for working people instead of donors, lobbying groups and billionaires. The smear is the tell. When you can't beat the message, you try to poison the messenger. This is the 2026 playbook in miniature: MAGA's media surrogates can't win on Mamdani's affordability agenda, so they're betting the midterms on fear — socialism, antisemitism, "the radicals are coming."
