They tried to steal our motorbikes - UPDATE

This is an update following an attempted motorcycle theft at our home in West Yorkshire. Just over a month ago, four thieves arrived during the early hours of the morning on two e-bikes and attempted to steal our motorcycles. The incident was captured on CCTV, and thanks to our alarm system we were alerted while it was happening. They tried to steal our motorbikes    • They tried to steal our motorbikes!   In the original incident, we called the police immediately, confronted the intruders outside our home, and they fled the scene leaving behind bolt cutters used to try and cut through our security chains and ground anchors. In this update, we go through what has happened since — including the police response, forensic examination of evidence, and the eventual outcome of the investigation. The police attended the scene, reviewed the CCTV footage, and collected the bolt cutters for forensic analysis. However, around a month later we were informed that the investigation has been closed due to a lack of further lines of enquiry. We also reflect on the response to the original video, which generated a large number of comments and discussions from riders around the world sharing their own experiences of motorcycle theft and security. One of the key themes from that discussion was motorcycle security — and we talk through the layered approach we use, including chains, ground anchors, alarmed disc locks, and covers, all designed to slow thieves down and make the bikes a harder target. This video is intended as both an update and a wider discussion about motorcycle theft, security, and how quickly these situations can unfold even outside your own home. 📍 Location: West Yorkshire, UK In this video: • Recap of the attempted motorcycle theft • CCTV footage and immediate response • Police attendance and forensic investigation • Outcome: investigation closed • Motorcycle security lessons learned • Community discussion and rider experiences We share this not to sensationalise the incident, but to help raise awareness and hopefully help other riders improve their own security setups. If you’ve had a similar experience or have suggestions on motorcycle security, feel free to share in the comments — it helps other riders in the community. — Vet and Beanie #MotorcycleTheft #BikeSecurity #WestYorkshire #MotorcycleUK #CCTV #VStrom #MotorcycleCommunity
