James Carr Live At Porretta Soul Festival 1992 At The Dark End Of The Street.

Miracles, when they happen, are unrepeatable. In 1992, after many failed attempts, the legendary James Carr arrived in Porretta. The very musicians who backed him hadn't seen him in a long time. Some even thought he was dead. Only the most knowledgeable in the audience knew him, but when he took the stage, a little uncomfortable and a little intimidated by his long absence from public appearances, there was an explosion. Audiences always recognize great voices. The band, led by Michael Allen on keyboards, was made up of the cream of Memphis musicians: two guitarists, Teenie Hodges and Thomas Bigham, Dywane Thomas on bass, James Robertson on drums, and the Memphis Horns as the horn section. Along with Wayne Jackson and Andrew Love, Stax veteran Floyd Newman also arrived. The section was rounded out by Kenneth Jackson on trumpet and Dennis Bates on trombone. Finally, Ann Hines and LaVestia Miller on backing vocals.
