Les Arcs & La Plagne: Huge ski area in France with super long slopes and a brilliant view of the highest mountains in the Alps Have you ever been skiing in France? If so, where did you go? And how did you like it? Feel free to write us your experiences in the comments. The day begins early in the morning with a view from the balcony of our hotel. Everything is still quiet, the lifts are standing still, and the entire ski area is bathed in a gentle morning light. The sun is already blinking over the mountain peaks. We grab our equipment and make our way to the first cable car. Then we strap on our boards. We float up on the very first chair of the day. The anticipation increases with every meter we gain in altitude. Then we are at the start of the first slope. The sun is shining from the sky, and the fluffy snow is dusted up with every turn. After the first run-in, we continue towards La Plagne. A wonderful, long red slope awaits us on the way there. The slopes are wide and open, so we can really gain momentum. The snow swirls up with every turn, and the descent feels simply magnificent. The sun at our backs, a dreamlike backdrop in front of us. Finally, we reach the connecting cable car to La Plagne. This is an impressive double-decker gondola that transports skiers and snowboarders between the two huge ski areas. But we don't have time for a detour today, because the entire area is so huge that you could easily spend several days here. We get on a lift that quickly takes us to a new height. Thanks to the fast-track access when queuing, we don't have to wait long. From up here we enjoy a breathtaking view of Mont Blanc, the highest peak in the Alps showing its most beautiful side today. The panorama is simply overwhelming. A short time later, we reach one of the most popular photo motifs, the famous "Les Arcs" lettering in blue letters. Of course, we stop here for a souvenir photo. We then continue towards Arc 2000 and Arc 1950. What's particularly cool here is that you can ski right through the town. The snow-covered streets are like small slopes and we glide past the chalets and cafés. For a well-deserved break, we stop at the legendary Igloo Bar. We secure a place on the loungers in the sun and enjoy a hot chocolate with marshmallows. There's also the famous cheese fondue bread, a speciality that's simply part of the menu here. If you like, you can also take a look at the interior of the bar. Inside, impressive ice sculptures are carved directly into the walls. After this refreshment, we continue to the highest point of the ski area, up to the Aiguille Rouge. A first-class panorama awaits us up here. We see not only Mont Blanc, but also the Matterhorn, the Dufourspitze and even as far as the Gran Paradiso. But it's not just the view that's spectacular. One of the longest slopes in the ski area also starts up here. In total, this descent covers an incredible 2,000 meters in altitude. And a little further down, another highlight awaits us: the speed zipline. I can feel the excitement building up inside me as I get ready. The guide fastens my harness, checks the safety precautions, and then we're off. I zoom off. The adrenaline shoots up.
