What does studying Theology mean today? Is it a choice only for those who want to become priests or can it also be a profound, cultural, human and spiritual formation, in a world that increasingly needs landmarks? In this edition of the CULT@rt show, we talk about the Theology specialization at the West University of Timișoara, a direction of study with important roots in the Banat tradition, but also with a current mission: to train people capable of understanding, listening, communicating and building bridges between faith, culture and community. Theology does not only mean biblical study, church history or liturgical training. It also means intellectual formation, capacity for interpretation, dialogue, empathy, spiritual counseling, public communication and social involvement. A Theology student learns to work with texts, but especially with people: with their questions, with their suffering, with their need for meaning and support. We discuss the Theology specialization within the Faculty of Letters, History, Philosophy and Theology, its place within the University of the West, what students specifically learn, the prospects after graduation and the vocation of the priesthood in a changing society. We also talk about the challenges of today's world: technology, polarization, the lack of landmarks and the need for discernment. Tania Stavilă-Ţunaş's guest is associate professor dr. Constantin Jinga, a lecturer at the University of the West of Timișoara and parish priest at the Romanian Orthodox Parish of Timișoara Fabric Vest. We try to understand why Theology can be, for a young person, not just a university specialization, but a path of knowledge, responsibility, service and maturation.
