In the best part of episode 1 of Mi Rival, Renato is an orphaned boy who grows up on the streets under the strict rules of a gang that takes him in to commit crimes. Years earlier, as a teenager, he refuses to participate in a robbery, thwarting the heist and earning Gustavo's gratitude. In return, Gustavo takes him to live on his ranch and adopts him as his son.
