Episode 84 - Drygarn Fawr, Gorllwyn // Nuttalls - Wales - Hiking

In this episode I return to central Wales to bag two tops just south of the Elan Valley. It was my first visit to this area and I was amazed at how beautiful it was. The forecast on this day was an improving one, so I set out after a great lunch at the Elan Valley Visitor Centre (a delicious pasty) only to discover that the road was closed. This added an hour to the day but I wasn't complaining as the cloud was being slow to lift and it was such a lovely place to spend time. As I climbed, the cloud lifted, leading to a perfect day in the hills. The two tops bagged on this walk, Gorllwyn and Drygarn Fawr provide excellent views, not to mention some of the most impressive cairns that I've encountered. About Rudolph’s Mountains Welcome to Rudolph’s Mountains, a series of videos which records my journey to visit all the mountains in England and Wales over 2,000ft, known as the Nuttalls. They were named after John & Anne Nuttall, who researched and created the initial list of tops, and published quite excellent books on how you could visit them all. I don’t always follow their routes, as I prefer to research the route myself, but I always use their route as a starting point. Each Episode is edited down to around 30 minutes or less and then released on a Saturday at 12 noon when it’s ready. Each Episode has subtitles, as even I can’t understand what I’m saying half of the time! I don’t make any money from YouTube so any adverts you see weren’t placed there by me. Neither do I wear any sponsored clothing or equipment. I share these videos so family, friends and anyone else can enjoy my time in the hills with me and so I have a record of my adventures for the future. If you are planning to venture out on the hills yourself, please make sure you research your route and that you are properly prepared. Always check the mountain weather and ground condition forecast, but don’t trust it! Mountain weather can be unpredictable, so prepare for the worst. Enjoy the mountains, but always take care so that you return home safely.
