Lucas García (Celtivert) - Pastoreo de cabras celtibéricas

Extensive livestock farming keeps the forests clean, prevents fires, and conserves native breeds that are part of our heritage. In the LIFE Nature Pastoral project, we work to support extensive livestock farms in their economic viability and in the transfer of knowledge. These videos create a space where those starting out can learn from those with experience. In this video, we meet Lucas García, from Celtivert, who, along with Noelia and Toni, manages a flock of almost 500 Celtiberian goats, a native breed in danger of extinction. Lucas is participating as a pilot in Nature Pastoral and tells us what it's like to work with this hardy breed adapted to the Mediterranean forest. He also shares his experience exploring new avenues for profitability through agreements with public forest maintenance and fire prevention services. A valuable testimony for understanding how the conservation of native breeds and land management can go hand in hand with the viability of livestock farming.
