The Mazda i-Activ all-wheel drive technology helps deliver a safe, fun, and fuel-efficient driving experience in any road conditions. With 27 sensors placed inside and around the cabin, our AWD system monitors the road, the driver’s intent, and external conditions like temperature or precipitation in real time. Based on this information, torque will be distributed between the front and rear wheels as needed – and because the system is predictive, necessary adjustments are made before slippage or other problems occur. i-Activ AWD also works perfectly with Mazda’s G-Vectoring Control Plus technology, for smooth turning even under difficult conditions. With the Mazda CX-5, a special off-road mode for especially tough terrain is available. Drive safely, even on icy or gravel roads.
