She struggled with these feelings and tried to suppress them until she was 28 years old. Rachel met her wife, Lindsay, in 2011 and they married in 2014. After three years, Lindsey gave birth to their daughter Raelee Doese. Rachel and Lindsay split in February 2019, and Rachel began her transition. After she started wearing make-up and dressing more feminine, which was when her daughter became curious and asked why her dad was now wearing make-up. Rachel told her “because I like it” and that was the end of her questions. "She is the most accepting kid I’ve ever met, and I’m in awe at how truly open minded a three-year-old can be" Rachel said.
