El Chaltén en INVIERNO: Guía Completa de Trekking (Fitz Roy 🇦🇷)

Continuing our journey through Argentine Patagonia, we took a bus from El Calafate to visit El Chaltén, a town located within Los Glaciares National Park, known as the Trekking Capital of Argentina. It's home to one of the region's most iconic mountains, Mount Fitz Roy, which bears a striking resemblance to Torres del Paine in Chile, and also Cerro Torre, both of great interest to experienced climbers. We visited El Chaltén during the low season (winter) to save on costs, as accommodation prices are higher during peak season and there's an entrance fee to the park (which we also avoided). Our goal and challenge was to hike the trail to Laguna Los Tres, the base of Mount Fitz Roy, where the viewpoint offers the best view of Fitz Roy and its glaciers. The difficult part was that it was winter, and we encountered a very challenging and dangerous route due to the presence of snow and ice. On the first day, we took a warm-up hike to familiarize ourselves with the terrain and acclimatize to the low temperatures. We visited Chorrillo del Salto, a beautiful waterfall accessible via an easy trail suitable for the whole family.
