JR West 500 Series Shinkansen (IGBT-VVVF) - Mihara to Shin-Onomichi (Kodama) 新幹線500系電車 走行音
Famous for its bird-nose shape and once the fastest and cutting-edge technology of high-speed train in Japan, the 500 Series is one of the most iconic Shinkansen models to be introduced back in 1997. Operated by JR West and originally assigned to the Tōkaidō Shinkansen's signature Nozomi services, it has since been relegated to Sanyo Shinkansen's all-stops Kodama services after they were replaced by the newer N700 Series. Built by Hitachi, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Kinki Sharyo, and Nippon Sharyo, the 500 Series Shinkansen were originally fitted with GTO-VVVF traction control system. A handful of units were retrofitted with a newer IGBT-VVVF traction control system, including the one featured in this video.
