The main upgrade here is a 74% increase in battery capacity, jumping from the 500 mAh unit found in the original T-Rex Ultra to a high-density 870 mAh cell. Despite this significant power density upgrade, the device still has a nearly identical weight profile, coming in at 89.2 g compared to its predecessor's 89 g. This weight efficiency is achieved through the use of Grade 5 titanium for the case back, frame, and hardware buttons – this replaces the 316L stainless steel architecture used in the 2023 model. Visual performance has been recalibrated with a 1.5-inch AMOLED display protected by sapphire glass, capable of reaching a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. This represents a 300% increase over the previous generation's peak of 1,000 nits, which should greatly improve visibility in high-altitude environments or with direct glare. Internally, storage capacity has been expanded from 4 GB to 64 GB, which now accommodates pre-installed offline topographic maps that differentiate between paved and unpaved roads. While the original Ultra required users to manually import OSM map files, the Ultra 2 offers native, turn-by-turn navigation via six simultaneous satellite systems.
