The Small Church of the Winter Palace presents an exhibition dedicated to court wedding ceremonies, the traditions of which were fully established in the Russian Empire by the early 19th century. At each stage of such an important event in a person's life as a wedding, there were distinct rules of dress, rituals, and ceremonies. Added to all this were family traditions and heirlooms passed down from generation to generation. We invite you to take a short tour of the exhibition with its curator, Yulia Valeryevna Plotnikova, a leading researcher in the Department of the History of Russian Culture at the State Hermitage Museum and a PhD in history.
