The outer shell is constructed of 500D Cordura and waterproofing is handled by a removable Gore-Tex liner than can also be worn separately off the bike. The knee armor is CE-rated SAS-TEC and there are pockets for hip armor and a tailbone protector. Held has put Pittards leather on the seat of the pants for extra grip and Nomex heat-resistant fabric on the inside of the legs -- something we do not see very often. Do not be fooled by the different name. In form and function, the Torno II pants are the complement to the Carese II jacket.
