Backpacking the Timberline Trail: a Comprehensive Guide

Follow along as my three friends and I backpack the 43 mile long Timberline Trail around Mt. Hood in Oregon. This adventure takes place in August of 2025 over four days and three nights. Topics covered are Paradise Park, the Sandy River crossing, Ramona Falls, the McNeil Point Shelter, the Cairn Basin Shelter, the Elliott Wash, the Cloud Cap Saddle Campground, the Cloud Cap Inn, the Tilly Jane A Frame, The Tilly Guard Station, the Cooper Spur Shelter, Mt. Hood Meadows Ski area and of course, Timberline Lodge. With the aid of Gaia mapping software, I will discuss route selection, terrain and route hazards. Additionally, I will share some history about the US Forest Service and my personal experiences around this amazing mountain. 00:00 Intro 01:05 Leaving Timberline Lodge 01:45 Paradise Park 04:05 Sandy River Area 05:15 Romona Falls 05:49 Above Romana Falls 07:05 McNeil Point 07:43 Cairn Basin 08:21 North Side of Mt.
