Child support is an essential expense for a child's livelihood and growth. While paying child support is both a parent's duty and a child's right, a significant number of families still suffer because they do not receive it properly. According to the 2025 Survey on the Status of Single-Parent Families conducted by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, seven out of ten caregivers reported that they had not received child support. Caregivers who do not receive support must prepare for child support lawsuits while shouldering the sole responsibility for childcare and livelihood. While those with minor children can receive assistance from the Child Support Enforcement Agency, caregivers with adult children must shoulder the entire burden alone. Ultimately, they are placed at a crossroads: either give up on receiving child support or continue the legal proceedings to obtain it. What happens if they decide to receive child support by any means necessary? The first hurdle is locating the non-custodial parent, who separated long ago, and sending a summons. It is not easy to hold non-custodial parents accountable, as they evade prosecution through various means, such as falsely registering their address or claiming to be absent without a door. Children who have become adults without receiving child support from their non-custodial parents, and caregivers raising children who will soon become adults.
