Bomberman (NES) - RetroAchievements

We're kicking off the Bomberman series for Game #46, and that is the Bomberman for the NES. This game is very simple. You need to kill all the enemies, find the door hidden behind a random block and exit the stage before the timer runs out. There is one hidden powerup in each stage. Most are simple as getting an extra bomb to drop at one time or increasing the bomb explosion range. But, occasionally there are some incredibly helpful ones, such as Wall Pass (being able to walk through walls), Bomb Pass (being able to walk through bombs) and even Fire Barrier (invincibility from your own bomb explosions). As far as the achievement set goes, it essentially breaks down into five categories: Beat the game (no passwords allowed) Obtaining a certain score (no passwords allowed) Beat certain stages without blowing up a certain amount of blocks (passwords allowed) Collecting all the power ups (passwords allowed) Finding all the hidden items (passwords allowed) Because of passwords being allowed for the cheevos outside of beating the game and score, I decided to knock all those out first, which was honestly really easy. The regular game itself is honestly pretty easy too, as long as you get all the powerups early on. If you don't get the powerups along the way, it becomes more of a challenge as you face more enemies and have more blocks. Once you get all the powerups in the first half of the game, the only way you can honestly die is if you run into an enemy or accidentally bomb the door and the enemies come flying out of the door and run into you. Essentially, as long as you don't auto pilot and don't be too impatient or reckless, it's pretty easy to do first try. But ... as you can see ... well ... I accidentally got a double input when dropping bombs on Stage 50, and the consequence was extending the video an additional three hours lol. It happened so fast that I dropped two bombs instead of one, the first bomb revealed the door right next to me, and the second bomb hit the door that unleashed the enemies to come kill me instantly. After that and losing all my power ups, the RNG was not kind to me on finding the door and being able to kill all the enemies before the timer ran out. So, once I had less than 25 lives, I had to start over. PAIN. Fortunately though, I got it done on the next run, which actually was a bit sketchy too. Moral of the story for this game and set - get all the power ups, then take your time and don't fall asleep at the wheel. As long as you do that, it's an easy game and set.
