Rare Disorder Turns People’s Bodies to Bone
Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressive, also known as FOP, is a rare disease that turns muscle tissue and connective tissue into bone. “We’re human beings turning physically into a human statue,” Ashley Kurpiel, who has FOP, told Inside Edition. Only 800 people worldwide have the disorder. Inside Edition met with people living with FOP to learn how they go about their everyday lives. Every year dozens of people with the disorder, including children, attend a convention to bond with one another. #InsideEdition
